New: Your Recipients Can Now Save Photos!

July 29, 2008

Here’s a cool new feature - one of my personal favorites.  Did you know you can now truly share the photos in your Smilebox creations with your friends and family?  After viewing your emailed Smilebox they can simply click on the “Save Photos” link at the bottom left of their screen and select the image(s) they like and download directly to their hard drive.  It’s a great way to give your photos of the soccer game to other parents or pictures of the kids at summer camp to grandma.  And all delivered via email creatively wrapped in a Smilebox design!  Much cuter than a file attachment or a link to a web site, don’t you think?

As always, your recipients don’t need to have Smilebox or register anywhere to view and download their photos.  (For privacy purposes, this feature is limited to only emailed Smileboxes and is not included on those creations posted to blogs.)

So give the gift of memories - in a Smilebox!  We want to make sure this feature works for you, so please let us know what you think!

  1. Dear friends,
I have recently become acquainted with your smile box creations. They have been an enjoyable addition to our emails and blog entires.

I would like for you to consider designing a memory book for a sobering charity I deeply love, “Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep.” I know your unique designs, music, and artistic approach would soften the hurt of the hearts dealing with the death of a precious child. I know this is not a normal comment, I apologize for that, but I know your skills would be a welcome oasis to a broken hearted family. Please give this matter serious thought.

For more information regarding Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, visit my blog– benderparty.blogspot.com. I have a segment posted from the Today Show (there is also a link to their site listed).

I am not affiliated with Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, nor have I been asked to contact you at any time. I am simply a mother who has been blessed by the kindness of this organization at the death of my own daughter. I believe you could be a great help to families if you joined Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep/their photographers in their efforts to reach out to others. I promise you, it would be time and skills well spent, and memories never forgotten. What a wonderful gift you could give to a precious family!

Thank you for your time, and please consider,

  2. I’m a new elementary school librarian, I’m taking classes at UH-CL, and I also own my own Creative Memories business. I have 2 sons who play baseball and I’m always needing to send photos to others. I’m new to blogging and all, but I came across this website in one of the searches required for my class and I can’t wait to share it with fellow scrapbookers, classmates, faculty members. How creative is Amilebox!?! I love it!
    Thanks,
    Terri (memorykeepermom uhcl)

  3. Terri,

  4. Oh I so love this smilebox site! My friend Nancy at http://www.nannerfly.typepad.com made several little scrapbooks 1 for each of her nieces and nephews and her grandson and posted them to her site. Just one a day and they went crazy for them and couldn’t wait to see who was going to get one next. So I decided to try to use your site and it is very is to use, I had tried other sites but I think this is the best so many different options and I love that I put music with the albums too. I’m so behind in putting my pictures in scrap books and I’m not really creative so this is so perfect for me. I’m usually very frugal and I was only going to use the free service you have because that is great, but i just loved it so much I paid for the whole year.
Thank you for your amazing site,
    DD

ps. I’m going to tell my son’s teacher too.

  9. Hello!

I love Smilebox! Your designs are a beautiful and fun way to share pictures with family and friends. Thank you so much for the feature that allows recipients to save the pictures to their hard drive.

I do have a “problem” that I’m wondering if you’ve considered providing a solution for… I have grandparents whom with I would love to share a Smilebox. However, they don’t have a computer. Do you provide (or would you consider providing) the ability to save an entire slideshow to my computer (not just the JPGs)? I’d love to be able to copy that to a DVD and mail it to them so that they would be able to view it on their TV. If this capability exists and I’ve just not discovered it, please let me know!

Thanks so much for all of your creative works!
    Jenna

  10. Jenna,

Thank you for all your kind words! The DVD feature is one that is frequently requested and we hope to have it available soon. Stay tuned to our blog for more details…

  11. For security purposes, it is my opinion that the “Save Photos” link should be defaulted to “off” when a Smilebox is created. Email messages, although perhaps sent to loved ones, cannot be controlled; therefore, can be forwarded to folks we don’t even know. If the creator wants the “Save Photos” feature turned “on”, they can do so via their Smilebox Account’s “My Sent and Posted Creations”. For the same reasons, it is my opinion that the “comments”, “save creation”, “save photos” should all be defaulted to off. Smilebox staff, please respond. Thanks!
